The viola is like the "big brother" of the violin.

It looks a lot like the violin, but is tuned differently and has a deeper tone.

Much like the violin, the viola comes in different sizes to fit different size players.

Viola sizes are generally listed as 13", 14", 15", 15½", 16", and 16½".

Here is a checklist of typical items you will need to get ready to play! Each item already checked is included - at no charge - with your rental or purchase from Schmidt's Music. You may also want to check with your music teacher for any additional items he or she suggests:

a shoulder rest

polish and polishing cloth

your method book

a music stand

Some things to remember:

Please keep your instrument in its case when not in use.

Please do not let anyone else play your instrument.

Remember, practice is an essential part of playing an instrument.
