Our certified repair techs, along with the state-of-the-art tools we provide, mean we’re ready to get your instrument back into playing condition and back in your hands.

Does Your Instrument Need Service?
We offer free estimates for repairs, and in most cases we complete repairs within one to two weeks. If you are a rental customer, or if you’ve signed up for the Schmidt’s Protection Plan, regular maintenance and accidental damage are completely covered.
Free Pick Up From Schools
You can drop your instrument off at our store in person, but we also pick up and deliver to schools from Okaloosa County all the way to lower Alabama. Need your instrument picked up? We make weekly trips to each school. Just give us a call and we’ll make sure to collect your instrument on our next trip out.

The Schmidt’s Protection Plan
Already own your own instrument? For a small monthly payment, between $15 to $18 depending on the type of instrument, you can enroll in the Schmidt’s Protection Plan.
With this plan in place, regular service and standard repairable damage are covered, giving you peace of mind that whatever happens, we’ll help keep your instrument in top playing condition.

Meet Our Repair Technicians
Joe Boyd
Shop Foreman / Owner
Joe began his journey as a performing musician, until he visited Schmidt’s Music when he needed a repair on his trumpet. After seeing the skill and craftsmanship involved in instrument repair, he decided to change course from performer to repair technician. After receiving his certificate in repair from Minnesota State College Southeast, Joe returned to Pensacola and began working at Schmidt’s Music. His knowledge, skill, and dedication naturally led him to become the shop foreman, as well as one of the current owners of the store.
Chris Collinsworth
Senior Repair Tech
Chris, born and raised in Pace, has spent nearly his whole life surrounded by music. Coming up through the band programs in the area, Chris demonstrated a high level of skill as a trumpet player. When he turned his focus to repair, he brought the same dedication and attention to excellence he’d displayed as a student in band. After getting certified in repair from Minnesota State College Southeast, Chris worked in many repair shops, including as part of the quality control team at KHS. He’s happy to be back home and giving back to the band programs that got his career started.
John Callahan
Senior Repair Tech / Luthier
John was in band throughout school, followed music into college, and worked as a production manager for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. He has mastered playing many different instruments, bass being his latest interest. He is currently a member of the wedding band NOBIUS. In the shop, John’s years of experience fixing instruments blend with his musicianship to make him a versatile repair tech. His willingness to solve unique problems led him to begin training as a luthier, and he now maintains nearly all of the string instruments for local orchestra programs in addition to our own rental instruments.
Stephen Woodall
Apprentice Repair Tech
Stephen is currently a repair apprentice at Schmidt’s Music. Although originally from Pensacola, he grew up and studied music in Maryland. His degrees are in composition and education. Stephen plays trombone and has experience in wind ensemble, jazz band, and drum & bugle corps.
Stephen looks forward to learning more every day from all the repair techs here at Schmidt’s.
Mark Duggar
Brass Repair Tech / Owner
Mark got his start at Schmidt’s Music as an apprentice, hired on to help with summer repair. He has a BA in Theatre from the University of West Florida, where he focused on performance and sound design/engineering. His time as a stage hand and sound engineer gave him a unique set of problem-solving skills that proved useful when learning to repair instruments. After being hired full-time in 2018, Mark quickly demonstrated talents not just for repair, but for organization and leadership. Now, in addition to fixing instruments, he is one of the owners of Schmidt’s Music.
